Below follows a brief job description for our staff.
Registered Veterinary Technicians
The State of Ohio allows individuals achieving the status of Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to perform elevated medical responsibilities with regard to patient care. To become an Ohio RVT, you must go to a 2 or 4 year American Veterinary Medical Association nationally accredited school to receive an associates or a bachelors degree in veterinary technology. You then take the VTNE (national board exam for veterinary technology) and register with the Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board as a credentialed veterinary technician. RVTs are involved in many different aspects of veterinary medicine and perform many of the duties vital to excellent patient and client care in a hospital setting.
An RVT wears many different hats during the course of their employment - nurse, dental hygienist, surgical assistant, scrub nurse, radiology technician, lab technician, microbiologist, client service specialist, communications expert, transcriptionist, pharmacology technician, manager, nutritionist, animal trainer, behavior counselor, and a sanitation specialist! RVTs are instrumental in caring for your pet and excel in providing client education, helping make you a better-informed pet owner. Continuing Education programs for our RVTs allow for personal advancement in many different facets, including surgical and laboratory technique, client education, as well as educating other support staff on the latest developments in the Veterinary Technician field.
